Advantages: Sound Quality, Long Battery Life, Appearance
The main attraction to this product to anyone is the size and outward appearance, just look at it. Its dazzling elegant silver exterior could win anyone over. But the main selling point of course being its width. It stands at an impressive 0.75 Inches in depth, just enough to hold the cd and some vital workings. As well as looking impressive this allows the players to fit in bags, pockets and other spaces usually inaccessible to cd walkmans.
Also included is a small cylinder shaped remote control, matching the player and looking just as stylish.
For most people Cd walkmans are for on the go music listening, during jogging, walking or even cycling. The one major problem that many people face is the track skipping or damaging the Cd resulting in a worse playback, normally happening as a result of a sudden movement, i.e. a jerk or jump causing the CD to slightly move and thus skipping the track. In order to combat this the Sony D-EJ885 features Skip-Free G-Protection, which enhances the laser and stops the track from skipping.
This is by far the best part of this player. Normally these walkmans ware down batteries in lightning speed and end up costing you more money in batteries then you paid for the player! However the D-EJ885 can get up to 110 hours of 2 single AA batteries!! Imagine the possibilities!
On a side note another feature is that the player itself can charge up re-chargeable batteries, (via an Ac adapter) meaning you can charge and listen at the same time. I would recommend rechargeable batteries as although they don?t get the maximum playback it does work out a whole lot cheaper.
Sound Quality - Music does sound better on this player, not in comparison to similar m
ore expensive models but in comparison to cheaper Goodmans and Aiwa, I found that the music was clearer.
64 Track Programming - Allows you to select which order you want you songs to be played in for up to 64 tracks.
Connection to hifi Systems and Minidisk Players/Recorders
Bass Booster - Gives the songs a deeper beat.
Slim Stick Remote - Lets you change track, play pause etc all with one finger, great for jogging.
CD-R/RW playback - Lets you play cds copied from your computer.
A decent set of headphones also comes free with it.
This is the only down factor. These are pretty pricey considering you could pick up most CD walkmans for under £50 these days. Although this Walkman is a cut above the rest, looks better, feels better and sounds even better then some models, it is a question of whether or not you want to pay an extra 50-pound for this.
I found these everywhere from £95 to £180 so its a good idea to shop around, althog8uh I have found Amazon to be fairy reasonable at normally about £97.99. Still it's up to you if your going to spend this amount of money on what essentially isn't too different from cheaper models.
This CD player is a lot better then my previous Goodman?s model, and is ideal for jogging, cycling etc. It also looks great and is sure to impress all your mates. But although it is a great player for such a high price I really suggest shopping around beforehand.
Great Player, Price Lets It Down, Still Recommended If Your Loaded
