... seen or heard of this type of cable. Turns out to be very usefull indeed. You can record MDs in two ways one with a normal lead from your stero and the other using the optical cable, though the optical cable is for recording CDs only. Check your Hifi or CD player has an optical out in the back if it does attach your cable, the thin end fits the MD. This will now allow you digital recording as the information going down the cable is also sending information to the MD so it will divide the tracks up and make an e...more

The FM65 is a great little unit to buy and great if it is like it was mine your first MD. It is a portable player/recorder and is small and lightwieght, its smaller than an average walkman too. In the box you will find the player itself, headphones with remote attachment, recharable battery and charger and an optical cable. The only thing after checking out the box that I was not sure about was the optical cable. Iread the instructions to try and gauge what it did as I had never seen or heard of this type of cable. Turns out to be very usefull indeed. You can record MDs in two ways one with a normal lead from your stero and the other using ...  Read the complete review

i bought an aiwa amf-65 from big save.com for £117 it was in my mail order catalog for £199 so with it being a quality make like aiwa i thought it was a bargain, it was but not much longer than a month later the left hand earphone stopped working i contacted big save and they said instead of me sending the whole unit back the would see if aiwa would send me a replacement. aiwa sent an amtrack van to pick up the earphones but didn't send a replacement pair so if it wasn' for a spare pair i had i would not be able to use my machine. other than that it has been a delight to use, fully featured but i would recommend up grading to the machine with the lcd ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Aiwa AM-F65: The only thing missing is the Sony badge. (259 words)

This player / recorder is a very solid peice of equipment. It has sustained over a year of use in a collage environmant where it is dropped and banged quite a few times, but it is still going. As for the spec the only thing missing is the remote (avalible on the AM-70) but with 40 seconds antishock and full recording and editing features it is one of the highest specs around. Only one thing which makes this a slightly less attractive bet than the Sony range, and that is the size. Although very small and eaisly pocketable it is bigger than the top of the range Sony (but the sony is also £50 more). One not so noticeable feature of this over the ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Great sound just don't drop it! (138 words)

The F65 is a good all-rounder. I was thoroughly impressed by the sound quality and only a few niggles spoil it. For one I have found that when the dynamic bass is turned on, the headphones provided cannot cope with this and vibrate horribly so it must be turned off. The 'remote control' is a bit of a waste of time unless you have microscopic hands to fiddle with the tiny buttons. Oh and don't drop it. Unlike personal stereos, this player does not like being dropped and refused to close properly when I did so. Other than this the F65 is a great buy. The buttons on the player itself are large and the volume dial is a good idea. SOund quality is good and the ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Aiwa AM-F65: Nice bit of kit (281 words)

I was tempted into the MiniDisc arena with the promise of being able to put my favourite CD tracks onto MiniDisc selections. I therefore purchased a Aiwa F-65 MiniDisc player/recorder through QXL. The design of the player is very good. Despite the top-heavy appearance, the build quality is both sturdy and shiny - I bet that I could drop it a few times, though for some reason I haven't yet tested this "feature". The instruction manual is very comprehensive and in about five different languages with guidelines to the numerous functions in step-by-step fashion. With the ability to shuffle (play tracks at random) and repeat tracks, ...  Read the complete review
