Advantages: AWESOME SOUND, BATTERY LIFE, DESIGN AND DURABILITY, LIGHT WEIGHT
Disadvantages: NEED REMOTE AT ALL TIMES TO USE, CRAPPY EARPHONE/HEADPHONES
I must admit i am still a portable disc player fanatic (even in this new mp3 era). And the AIWA AM-NX1 proves its self to be of great adversity to mp3's. The sheer size of it makes for an easy to store and carry unit. All aluminium casing gives assurance of scratch restance and strength. the colours available/or were available before they got out fashioned, were quite the eye catcher. i personally have got a black one which i purchased near new off ebay.
The greatest points about this unit would have to be the battery life and transfer speeds of data on and of the mini disc. Boasting approximately 114 hours nonstop music play back (with both NI-MH and AA battery) this is a music junkies heaven!!!! and suites me greatly for when i go for rigouris jogs. The 64X download speed of data to the disc makes it that much quicker to put music onto it compared to the original 32X of earlier net MD's.
The sound quality of this thing considering its small size, is surprisingly good! I like how it has 4 preset equilizer settings and user equilizer so that you can tune the sound to your own preference. And not to mention the array of Virtual sound settings to give your music just that little more effect.
Inclusion of a docking stand for quick access to the power adaptor is good for recharges whilst off your feet where it is a simple click to put it in and a quick grab to take away when charged. Its especially good how it is powered by either battery or power adaptor when downloading off the computer, compared to sony's MZ-N410 MODEL which you had to use the battery when it was connected cos it had no other form of power supplie.
However amongst all the praise there is the falls..........
- would have been more assuring if it had at least a second set of functionality buttons on the unit itself should the remote break or be lost.
- some AUX and mic inputs should a user not have acces to a computer.
- better pair of earphones/headphones.
overall this unit is worth its weight in gold and is a good standup for those who refuse to leave the disc playing era. it may not hold as much as an mp3 does but hey i'll leave that for consumers to decide on.
Summary: EXCELLENT CHOICE OF MINIDISC PLAYER AT A GOOD PRICE 2ND FROM SONY
