The FM65 is a great little unit to buy and great if it is like it was mine your first MD. It is a portable player/recorder and is small and lightwieght, its smaller than an average walkman too. In the box you will find the player itself, headphones with remote attachment, recharable battery and charger and an optical cable. ... The only thing after checking out the box that I was not sure about was the optical cable. Iread the instructions to try and gauge what it did as I had never seen or heard of this type of cable. Turns out to be very usefull indeed. You can record MDs in two ways one with a normal lead from your stero and the other using the optical cable, though the optical cable is for recording CDs only. Check your Hifi or CD player has an optical out in the back if it does attach your cable, the thin end fits the MD. This will now allow you digital recording as the information going down the cable is also sending information to the MD so it will divide the tracks up and make an exact copy of the CD onto MD and gives you top notch sound quality. The headphnes have a small remote halfway up the cable so you can play and pause etc without taking your MD out your pocket. It takes a few hours to fully charge up the battery but you will get several hours playing time but it use up more power recording. Hint: When recording at home just keep it plugged into the charger as you can still use it. All in all a great machine and now down in price my girlfriend has the newer version but its still a good machine Ive had it two years and had no problems.

I got one of the Minidisc recorder and found that it was very good for the first few days. Then once the battery ran out I found out that the charger did not work. The problem was that the charger plug was not secure enough in the charger plug hole. This meant that it kept on disconecting the power supply and stopping charging. So I ... went back to the shop and they said that they would give me a new one, when I checked to see if this one work it did not so I asked for another one and they did not have any. So they ended up giving me my money back. I am know looking for another one at a good price, because I realy like this one. But I would like one that has a LCD Screen on the remote.

The F65 is a good all-rounder. I was thoroughly impressed by the sound quality and only a few niggles spoil it. For one I have found that when the dynamic bass is turned on, the headphones provided cannot cope with this and vibrate horribly so it must be turned off. The 'remote control' is a bit of a waste of time unless you have ... microscopic hands to fiddle with the tiny buttons. Oh and don't drop it. Unlike personal stereos, this player does not like being dropped and refused to close properly when I did so. Other than this the F65 is a great buy. The buttons on the player itself are large and the volume dial is a good idea. SOund quality is good and the LCD screen is a good size. A great buy.
