Panasonic SJ-MR200
by matt_uk Now, there's alot to like about this little fellah. Panasonic has done something out of the ordinary and like no other player seen before, it's used a touch screen control. Also it has one of the funkiest in-line remote controls that i've ever seen, which also has a cool "blue" backlit screen. It offers you ... a full range of editing functions and titling tracks is very easy, recording is a ver simple two button process. In term of DSP there are S-XBS(bass boost) and Train (muted high-end) modes. There is an absence of full control on the main unit, which means that sometimes you will need to use the remote. I found that when you have the bass boost on full you get some distortion on "big beat" tracks. But it's a pretty groovy player all the-same. The size of the player is tiny, so no faults there. The overall sound quality is pretty good although i wouldn't rate it over any Sony player. The headphones are very good and deliver rich bass and good quality high-frequency's. The touch screen is a very handy and cool feature which means ease of use, and essential in my book!. I wouldn't really recommend buying this player, for £200 you can get a decent Sony player. Panasonic SJ-MJ70
by jonchoo This is an excellent Minidisc personal player. It's small and the design isn't as ugly as those put out by Sony. Some Sony's are nice like the MZ-E75 and the new MZ-E900 which I would be hopefully buying next. Anyway I used this for about 7 months before it got nicked in the underground. Between than and now, I have tried ... various models : Aiwa HX-50, Panasonic SJMJ75 (good but it's just a rebuild SJMJ70 with new design and remote), Sony MZ-E75, Sharp MT866 etc, all which I returned! Nothing could replace the SJMJ70 in personality and sound quality until of course I test the new MZ-E900 (which I will probably buy next). First the size. when you picked it up you would just laugh! Man it's that small and light! The designs are cool with those circular grooves. It's easy to scracth though, no matter how much you try to avoid it, it will scracth one day! it's very sensitive. The built is very very sturdy. The battery life is excellent. I usually travel on holidays and once I used it for a 13 hour flight with full volume straight without changing batteries! The only time I switched it off was when I need to go to the restroom and order some wine. The earbuds are excellent! This is the best looking/sounding free bundled budget earbuds I have every receive. Not only does it sound good, it looks good as well. Sony though produce excellent groove earbuds, they usually give cheap bad sounding earbuds that looks like knock-offs with their players. The complain is the remote, which is small. I have to admit that Sony produces the most sleek looking remotes. The 2nd generation stick remotes by Sony are by war the best I have handled. Sound quality is good on the SJMJ70 though I was put off by it's 1 step bass at first. It was sufficient though. Good excellent all around player. Read the complete review |

Panasonic SJ-MR200
by muscat Everyone was telling me how good minidiscs were so I thought id check them out. I decided I had to have one so I went looking and I saw it. The Panasonic SJ-MR200. Smaller than all the others but with a certain coolness about it I had to have a look. Weighing a tiny 120g with the battery in and being just a bit bigger than a minidisc I ... was impressed. It is officially the world’s smallest and lightest minidisk player and to tell you the truth I don’t see how they could make one smaller. I then looked at what other features it carried with it. It has a massively long playback time of 38 hours and has an easy to use touch pad system when it comes to editing titles on the minidics. Recording couldn't be easier plus anyone fashion conscious would be embarrassed being seen with this even though it isn't Sony or Sharp. It has a brilliant headphone remote control system that is easy to use and looks cool. Most of the minidiscs functions can be performed from it. The price isn't bad at £200. You can get cheaper but this one is defiantly worth the money. The only thing that is wrong is that it doesn't come with a digital lead which means you have to record in analogue until you buy one however I would recommend this to anyone looking to buy a portable minidisc system.
