It has a rechargable battery so I expected the battery to go flat fairly quicky, but it takes a long time for it to get flat, and has a reasonably quick recharging time. As can be expected, there are some problems with the minidisc. The main problem is that although it is small, it is not as small as some of the newer models which are being produced. These newer models are a...more

Premium Review Sharp MD MT20: Sharp sounds good (211 words)

The Sharp MD-MT20 is now a budget mini-disc recorder, but when I bought mine it was just about top of the range. Despite its age it still offers good performance, its only problem being its slightly bulky nature. It has all the features that you would expect from any mini-disc recorder, including mono recording and playback, a rechargable battery (12 hours playback, 8 hours recording) and a microphone in. The recording is quite advanced, allowing you to choose when and under what conditions track markings are set, and the unit features an automatic sampling rate converter and a 24 bit ATRAC. The sound quality is good from this unit, there is no ...  Read the complete review

I bought this mini disc player beacause I wanted one and this featured all of the specifications which I wanted at a reasonable price. I have been very pleased with it since I bought it. The sound quality is perfect and no difference can be noticed between listening to music off a CD, and listening to music which has been recorded onto this mini-disc. It also has a very useful remote control and very comfortable headphones. I was also very pleased with the battery life of the minidisc. It has a rechargable battery so I expected the battery to go flat fairly quicky, but it takes a long time for it to get flat, and has a reasonably quick recharging time. Premium Review Sharp MD MT20: Sharp in more ways than one. (252 words)

What can I say?!! Despite the hefty criticism the poor MD player appears to have received so far here, I have to stand up and say that I love my little MD-MT20. And according to the people I know, I'm not alone either. It's more than reasonable price makes the model almost affordable for us broke student-types, and it offers a vast array of excellent features. One of the best things which it boasts, as opposed to most MD players, is that it takes both its own rechargeable batteries (which last, in my experience for about 4-6 hours on their own) and ordinary alkaline ones which prove essential if in an emergency when the first set have run down. The sound ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Better Than Sony? (151 words)

The sharp Minidisc Player/recorder is not one of the smallest i have ever used, it is not particularly bulky, it is still thre qauters of the size of you average tape player, but compared to the new MZ-R90 it is like mount Everest. Its inline remote is simplistic to say the least, with no lcd display and no way to work out what you are listening to. The styling is quite boring realy, it is practical but in no way fun. The remote consists of "Play" "Skip" and "Volume" with no editing features. The sound is what you might expect from a mid range recorde. O.k at medium volume but it looses it some time after that. It has 10 second anti shock, ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Sharp MD MT20: It's not all bad. (282 words)

So, I've just read the review slating this MD player, and right after this, I'm going to read the Sony one, coz there's one big problem with it I'd like to point out to people. The biggest advantage that this MD unit has over a lot of them in the filed is simply the ability to change the record level. If you want to know why, then I advise you check out the Sony one, where if no-one esle has mentioned this problem, I will. Yes, it's a bit basic in terms of the in-line control, but then, I'm more worried about getting the LCD ones wet, whereas this one, I don't give two hoots about. You can adjust some things from the in-line thing, although ...  Read the complete review
