Advantages: Cheap

Disadvantages: Bulky

The Sharp MD-MT20 is now a budget mini-disc recorder, but when I bought mine it was just about top of the range. Despite its age it still offers good performance, its only problem being its slightly bulky nature.

It has all the features that you would expect from any mini-disc recorder, including mono recording and playback, a rechargable battery (12 hours playback, 8 hours recording) and a microphone in. The recording is quite advanced, allowing you to choose when and under what conditions track markings are set, and the unit features an automatic sampling rate converter and a 24 bit ATRAC.

The sound quality is good from this unit, there is no distortion even at loud volumes with full bass. One slight flaw is that when a recording is made in mono it can sound a little tinny, although this is probably due to the fact that it is mono.

The unit I got came with an optical cable, RCA cable, rechargable battery, plug in to wall adaptor and a remote control (without an LCD display). However the unit is available with different accessories so you may not recieve all this with it.

Overall this a great unit, and at its current price a real bargain.
