Advantages: cheap, compact, remote, anti-shock

Disadvantages: no display on remote, overhead headphones supplied

i was looking around for a budget md player and i found the sharp md-sr60 at a great price. the md-sr50 was tempting but for not much more, you do get quite a few extra features.

it is quite compact, has all of the usual md features and has so far been reliable and the sound has been excellent. the remote is simple and convenient, and fortunately for me (as someone whose ears are a bit oddly formed), the unit came with overhead headphones (as opposed to in-the-ear type).

i haven't got a digital output on my cd player so i have been unable to really test the sound quality, but even via an analog connection, the sound is superb.

the anti-shock is also excellent, although it doesn't often get highlighted as a feature - i can use it on a treadmill with no problems. battery life seems to be very good as well from just one ni-mh battery.

i would definitely recommend this to anyone who would love a high end sony but has to make do with a lower price bracket. i believe it is one of the best value for money units on the market in the uk.
