Advantages: You get a cool back lit remote, sound quality, status

Disadvantages: Maybe bigger than other MD players, but i wouldn't say it was a disadvantage, would you?

I bought this MD player about 3-4 months ago and i think that it's wicked. It came in the colour that the picture shows (champagne gold) which makes it look really expensive and unlike any other. The operation of the unit is the same as the MD-SR50H, but unlike that model it comes with a cool backlit LCD remote, cable for digital recording and AC adapter.
With this player/recorder you get
1.Remote control
2.Earphones
3.Ac adapter
4.Rechargeable battery
5.Battery carrying case
6.Connection cable for analogue recording
7.Optical lead (for digital recording)
8.Felt carrying bag.
The build of the player is very strong and able to withstand drops, as I have dropped it a few times on carpet, but not on concrete! The body is metal all over except for the LCD display, which is protected by a thick plastic cover. On the main LCD display what is displayed is track duration, name, number and a sound level indicator which is cool to watch, strangely.
Moving a switch on the side and lifting the door opens the unit door. Many people complain that the door on other Mini-disc players is flimsy... Not here, this one is strong and very durable. On the underside of the player there's a hold function which enables you to stop the function of any button on the main unit. From the main unit you can record, play, stop, pause, change volume, change track and edit text on track/disc name and change bass. A microphone can be hooked up to main unit so that you can record your voice, you will need to already own or buy a microphone.
The headphones that you get with this player aren't bad atall; they're made buy sharp so they're of a top quality. Although i do suggest buying a new pair, i bought a new pair of Sony in-earphones model number-MDR-E829V, now these headphones are top quality and deliver rich bass and sound, they have much more punch than the supplied headphones. The sound quality that the actual MD play
er delivers is outstanding; bass can be changed to 4 different levels 0-1-2-3, 3 being the maximum bass. With the Sony headphones you really get a powerful bass.
The battery that you get with the MD player is good and gives about 8 hours playback and can be re-charged in the player. I bought some extra re-chargeables with i think is good if you often use the player.
Now I'm on the final and best bit about this MD player! THE REMOTE.
The remote that you get with this player is really cool and has a clip on the back so that it can be clipped onto a pocket, it's very strong, I've used it all the time and never had to fix it once. The remote has a backlit LCD display that displays scrolling text. It displays track number, time remaining; passed time and disc name, but only one at once you can easily change what it displays by pressing the shuttle in.
On either side of the remote is what's called a shuttle dial. You push it up or down or inwards. On the left side you increase or decrease volume and push it in to display volume. On the right side is track selection, up for track up and you know the rest. Push it in to play and pause. At the top of the remote by the LCD is a big white button, you push this to stop track or turn off the player if the track is already stopped. When ever the shuttle is moved or a button is pushed the remote lights up for about 6 seconds. This light is ver bright and can be seen in total darkness.
This MD player is the best i've had and i've had the Sony MZ-R70 and the MZ-R90. The Sharp is better, in my opinion; you may be put off by the overall size of the player because it's quite big compared to other although it will still fit in your pocket easily. If you want size over performance then don't buy it but if you would rather have better performance than size, BUY IT NOW!!!!!
