Advantages: Extremely small, battery life, MDLP
Disadvantages: Doesn't record, no screen on unit, earphones
After frustratingly trying to get hold of this player, I finally got one a week ago. After having owned one of the Sony MZ-R900's, I thought that it was a bit heavy in my pocket, so I decided I wanted both! This unit is rediculously small - and weighing only about 55g without the batteries, I think that it's one of the lightest player around. As it is ony a MD player, it doesn't have a screen on the unit, but there is a backlit screen on the remote. The remote has a long sreen across it, which displays song titles very nicely. It also has a 'twisty thing' on the end, which you 'twist' to skip tracks, but it's also the volume control - just pull the bit out. The unit features extremely long battery life, again one of the longest around. It also features MDLP (MiniDisc Long Play) which, unless you actually have a MDLP recorder, is useless. But if you do have a MDLP recorder, then this feature is extremely useful as you can fit so much music onto one MD. Also, if you are thinking about buying any Sony personal audio products, then consider a pair of quality earphones. The ones that are supplied with all Sony stuff now are extremely uncomfortable and large! Overall, if you are looking for an extremely small, good looking, light MD player and you already has something that will record then go for this, it will make all of your friends jealous!

- 02/06/01 Sounds prety good but for that sort of money I'd be after something that records as well. |
