This is my second minidisc player/recorder. The last one I bought about 5 years ago, was also Sony but about twice the size of this one! Call me shallow if you like but First things first, this player really looks the part! The gunmetal grey colour is a refreshing change to all the other 'silver' coloured players on the market. Its the ideal size to slip into a pocket, (although you do get a really good pouch for it that clips onto a belt). The optical lead that comes with the machine is the perfect way to connect it up to your source for recording, I personally use my Playstation 2 to record my CDs from and the results are perfect. Unfortunately if ... Read the complete review

Finally, we have a portable MiniDisc recorder that doesn't just look shiny and pretty and play MDs, but has a radio built in. The MZ-G750 is the only player on the market to offer this. The remarkable fact is that the quality of the actually MD playing facility is not compromised by the inclusion of the radio. The tuner is built into the remote and the aerial is located in the headphones. I have had no problems tuning in to local or national stations, so it exceeded my expectations. Up to 30 FM and 10 AM station can be tuned in as presets and this can be done automatically or manually with ease. The unit is light and stylish and the layout of ... Read the complete review

Although I was tempted, I put off buying a minidisc player for a long time. Why? Because whilst I wanted to use minidiscs for music - and, as a student, to record lectures on them - I also listen to the radio a lot, and none of the player/recorders available had one built in. This always struck me as crazy - I mean, in this day and age radios can be made so small, and it's such an obvious addition, had none of the manufacturers thought about it? So imagine my joy on discovering Sony's new portable MD which includes a radio in the 'remote' on the headphone cable. Although the asking price (£200) is a little excessive, I shopped around and ... I thought when I went into the shop that I was getting a real gem, only to find that after the excitment of the purchase wore off I was left bitterly disappointed by my initial haste. Do not make the same mistake! There is no backlight (nightmare) very few features in terms of playback choice, sound (bass/trebel/etc). All it does is record and playback minidiscs with very few options inbetween. For the money I thought I was going to get a lot more. On the plus side it is a solid piece of equipment that does its main job very well and extremely easily, and is incredibly light & portable with good build quality. Im just jealous that my brother got the slimmest one with ... Read the complete review

Ah bless it. After taking it out of the box and nearly losing it down the back of the sofa I settled down to play with my new gadget. So many buttons, so little time. The one thing that has put me off from buying a minidisc before was the paltry recording time. I didn't fancy having to carry round dozens of discs just so that I could have a decent selection of music. Thankfully all this has been sorted out thanks to the magic that is Minidisc Long Play. Now you can record 4 times the amount of music onto one disc, that means up to 320 mins of old pop trash. Setting up the machine to record is relativley easy although with the unit being so small the ... Read the complete review
