Firstly I must stress, you CAN copy MP3's across! I have filled up many discs making copies of the mp3's I own, all legitimate of course ;) I've never had any problems with them not copying to the MD unit via the USB link, works every time. I can download mp3's from the Internet and copy them across or I can Copy tracks from a CD onto the unit fine. So anyone who says any different has no idea what he/she is doing =) Anyway... This MD player is extrememly good. I was on holiday in Gibraltar and saw one in a Sony shop. At the time I'd only ever seen adverts for the player, I'd never seen any in the shops, so I instantly ... I purchased my 707 as a sort of impulse choice wanting to use it as a replacement for CD's, as my new car did not have a cd player, and I did not want to glue a discman to the dash, but the MD players can be hidden easily. Whilst the product manual for this MD player is daunting, a lot is intuitive, and only intermittent consultations have been needed. First impressions were good. The software loaded onto my Dell laptop and my old Dan desktop with no problems. It seems to work faster on the laptop. My other complaint with them was that its time consuming to pick the songs you want to listen to at a particular time, and in the order you want. Then I found out about NetMDs. Suddenly having to put up with using discs wasnt that bad, especially as it meant I could now store over four hours of music on one disc without any noticeable difference in sound quality and the discs were cheap to buy, compared to mp3 flash memory cards. I was impressed by the quality of the player when it arrived and also with the accesories it ... Read the complete review

Oh dear, what have you done Sony? I've a huge collection of LEGITIMATE MP3's and wanted a solution to listening on the move. So when I heard about Sony's Minidisk player that could store MP3's I jumped at the chance to own one. I got the MZN707 and a stylish piece of kit it is. Ooozing Sony build quality and style 100%. But thats where the good news ends. Sony has gone mad with its "Music Protection" system built into this device. The principle is sound, but in practice can mean your unable to transfer MP3's to the 707s, this is briefly how it works.. You use Sony's OpenMG software to import existing MP3's ...
