Advantages: looks good, mp3 transfer, its a sony :)

Disadvantages: expensive

After using an MP3 player sometime I have to admit I had become somewhat biased against minidisc playres. I mean, they still use great big discs! My other complaint with them was that its time consuming to pick the songs you want to listen to at a particular time, and in the order you want. Then I found out about NetMDs. Suddenly having to put up with using discs wasnt that bad, especially as it meant I could now store over four hours of music on one disc without any noticeable difference in sound quality and the discs were cheap to buy, compared to mp3 flash memory cards.
I was impressed by the quality of the player when it arrived and also with the accesories it came with. For instance it came with a AA rechargeable battery which, unlike other rechargeable batteries I have used actually has a pretty good battery life. The player is supposedly able to last 56 hours without recharging the battery and although I dont think it lasts this long, it does last a long time. The sound quality is very good even in LP4 mode which makes a disc hold four timed as much music as normal (either 74 or 80mins). I also found transferring music from the computer not very hard at all. I had heard there were problems with the software, though it seemed to work perfectly for me... :)
Overall the player is impressive and I would recommend it to anyone in the market for this kind of device. However, one warning to those musicians wishing to record using it. Recordings made on the player cannot be transferred back onto the PC. Apart from this feature lacking, I see nothing else that can be improved in the player and it has served me well.
