The Sony MZ-R35 in my opinion is still one of the best and most reliable portable Minidisc recorders around. The designer deserves some sort of recognition for the way he/she have managed to combine ergonomics, functionality and style. Why is it so good? It has a metal case which gives you a bit of confidence in the build quality, the drive is quiet and doesn't sound as if its about to fly of the bearings like some later models and its recording and playback controls are easy to use and don't break. The clam shell opening mechanism is strong and has not fallen apart despite daily use over nearly 3 years. It is slightly longer than newer machines ...

This is one of the original portable MiniDisc Recorders from Sony. I would recommend taking a look at this if you find it at a good price on an auction site, or second-hand from a friend. What I Liked: The sound quality is excellent, the same as CD, and sounds even better compared to the cheaper CD portables. The unit is well designed, and still looks good today when compared to newer models. There are 4 ports, Headphone, Line Out, Line In (Analogue and Digital Optical), and Mic.
