I bought my Sony Mz-R70 md recorder over a year ago now in the sales. I had wanted a md for ages but they were generally too expensive and then i saw it advertised in a paper for £99 from the Sony centre and bought it the next day. It came with an optical cable for recording a charger and a bag to carry it. It also has a remote control but it isnt one with a screen but is good for quickly changing track or the volume. The headphones it came with are really good to but the wire is very short. This minidisc also has a handy second headphone socket so a mate can listen aswell. It has all the normal recording features and also has a track mark button so you can spilt ... Read the complete review

I was very lucky to get my hands on the Sony MZ-R70 portable minidisc recorder because it didn’t even cost me a single penny! I won one of these by gaining top score in a music quiz on Bt’s ‘Get Out There’ website (www.getoutthere.bt.com). The player is small and stylish and is square in shape. I have a silver one and think that they also do them in a couple of other colours. It measures around 81x26x74mm and in full use with battery and minidisc weighs about 150g. The case isn’t entirely flat due to a slight bulge at the bottom of the casing where the battery goes, this sometimes prevents it from slipping into really slim shirt ... Read the complete review

If you are pondering whether to splash the cash on an md player then don’t bother to hesitate and this is a great player/recorder to start with. Not only does it contain the much talked about MDLP (in its original state giving you double the recording time) but it has all of the features of any of the top-of-the-range mdp’s currently out. The obvious disadvantage with this product is it has been overtaken in the market, but in effect this has just brought the price down making it even more affordable and therefore better value for money. It is plain and simple that tape is dead and gone, basically once you buy a minidisc player you will see just how ... Read the complete review

The MZ-R70 is quite a handy piece of kit as it sports a number of excellent features but has since been very much outdated by the new 'MD-LP' minidiscmans. When searching for a minidisc recorder I decided to choose Sony, the leaders in the field and the original developers of the system. Sony also command style along with a reputation for making durable and feature-packed electronics. So far, after a year, I cannot say that I bought wrongly. ------------------------- The Look The recorder is in stylish metallic blue (also available in black and silver) although the shade of blue is not quite as appealing as the MZ-R55. Its sleek shaping ... Read the complete review

I got my MZ R70 for Christmas. It was very special from the start because it was Christmas + 16th birthday from my mum and stepdad... so I wasn't getting much else! In a way it's changed my life, I can record from CD (with the optical cable that came with it) or get mp3s directly from my computer onto minidisc. The instructions are clear and it's difficult (even for me) to get confused using it. It's so small it fits perfectly into the pocket of my jeans so I actually feel I'm able to take it with me to places, something that I missed with a CD walkman. There are two headphone outputs so I don't have to worry about ... Read the complete review
