If you?ve read any of my recent reviews then you?ll know that I was lucky enough to win a lot of Sony electrical equipment recently. I am at the moment in the process of getting ciao to add them and then to rating them. And that brings me to this review on the Sony MZ R700 Mini-disc player. To be honest with you a mini-disc isn?t something I particularly wanted, or in fact needed, but when you win something it suddenly becomes something you need. The unit is pretty small I believe, though most mini-disc players are really. It is also very light which is an improvement on some of the older models ... Read the complete review

Here's my take on the Sony MZ-R700 Portable MiniDisc Recorder. I don't want to repeat what others have written in (worrying) depth, so here are just a few of my observations. Size: The 700 is the same size as three minidiscs, in their cases, piled on top of each other. There is a slight bulge in the bottom casing to fit the AA sized battery, but it still fits into any pocket and is very portable. Earphones: I replaced the supplied bog-standard plugs almost immediately. They made the 700 sound like a cassette recorder. I bought some Sony earplugs that cut out all background noises (such as approaching traffic) and there was a vast ... Read the complete review

My birthday went about a week back(12th of January) and for my birthday all my relatives and family gave me some money! With that money I brought something that I have been intending to but for a long time. A mini disk player! Before I go any further I would like to make it clear that this op is on the P.C. version of this mini disk. It is exactly the same as the none P.C. version its just you get a P.C. connection cable with the p.c. one! Hope my op makes a interesting read…………… The mini disk packaging is very good. The box is a black and purple kind of colour with all the usual information on it. The inside of the box is ... Read the complete review

Today has been a very busy day for me. I have spent the last five hours testing many of the features of an item I bought with my Christmas money. I am a big fan of minidisks due to the design. My over enthusiastic cousins regularly maul my CD collection. They listen to a track and then throw the CD on the desk to play another. Most of my CDs have scratches everywhere and a couple of them jump during some tracks. I started buying minidisks because they are housed in their own plastic casing, away from fingers and scratches. My minidisk player is good for it's job, but I wanted a personal MD player so I could listen to music on the move. I have a ... Read the complete review

OK, this is also not actually about the MZ-R700 but the MZ-R700PC... if you haven't read the other opinion someone has written about this, is basically an extra little gadget that plugs into the USB port on your computer to allow you to "bypass the sometimes poor quality digital to analog converter in your computers soundcard" for better recording. I have recently got me one of these little puppies and must say that they seem to be a bit of a scam... to me the above implies that you should be able to do lovely things like direct digital recording from your computer... WRONG! All it does is convert the digital signal from a playing MP3/WAV file into analog ... Read the complete review
