The Sony MZ-R90 is the best, but most expensive minidisc recorder available at £249.99. There are cheaper alternatives that are almost as good but if you have £250 to spend at your discretion, then this is the minidic recorder to get.

It has all the usual features, and extras including Mega Bass options and the ability to edit the tracks as it records them. But I find the backlit LCD remote the most useful extra feature. The MZ-R90 has these little extra details that makes it better than the rest.

It is so small and compact, being only a tiny bit bigger than the actual minidisc. It is also incredibly light. It has an attractive design, but the buttons are laid out a bit too boring, just like MZ-R55. However they are easy to use.

I went for the Sony MZ-R70 myself as it was £50 cheaper, but I have found that I really do wish my remote had a backlit LCD display as does the MZ-R90.

I say go for Sony if any recorder/player as they are the original and are a very reputable company. Whichever you get, the sound quality is so much better and they are so small and compact, you can take them almost anywhere. The play isn?t affect if they?re banged or jogged as they have up to 40 seconds shock resistant memory.
