Advantages: Everything

Disadvantages: Price

The peak of portable mini discs was hit with Sony's MZ-R91, or at least that's what I thought. They have recently unveiled the MZ-R900, this is far superior in every way, shape and form. The major new feature of the 900 is the MDLP, which allows either 2x or 4x the recording time on a single mini-disc without sacrificing significant sound quality. This means that you can get even more of your favourite audio onto a single disc. As well as this they have also increased battery life and have included a unique "disc based settings" feature which remembers program play, treble & bass, repeat mode, playback speed (80-110%), and volume settings for up to 20 discs within the unit. It's dimensions are 80.0 x 20.5 x 75.5mm which is approximately the same size as the MZ-R91. As for the price, no-one knows as yet, but it will be around the £250 mark which is not a significant amount more than the price of the MZ-R91 when released. It is undoubtedly a superb and highly advanced unit that will be a huge success, just once we have all spent our pocket money on the MZ-R91 they do this to us, still, for those with bottomless pockets I would only be too happy to receive one this Christmas!!!!
