When my cd player decided to go all broke, I knew I had to find a replacment, but I was puzzled. Do I go for good old cd, or do I go a step up, and go for mini disk. After much pondering (5 minutes) I decided that I would take the plunge and order the most expensive mini disk player I could (quality over quantity people). So it arrived, and I wasn't really sure what to expect from it, this being my first MD player ever.
So I opened the box and was greeted by a damn good looking MD player, and oh my god is it small. Only a bit bigger then that actually mini disk, if your used to clunky cd players, this will shock you. Really ncie stylign too, it feels expensive! The build quality is fantatsic, the outer shell is made out of metal (not cheap plastic), and all the parts of it are really refined and well made.
I was also supprised at how easy it is too use, recording is easy, and thanks to the helpful instructions, I was recording, and editing in 15 minutes! It's that easy. You are able to add labels to the songs, edit their lengh, play order, etc, and a stack of other things. The player is feature packed, with things like the mem bank, storing names so you don't have to type them out again and again, 40 sec anti shock (IT NEVER SKIPS!!!!), ability to record in mono and double mini disk lengh, a great remote enabling you to edit of it (it's back lit too!!!!), infact alot of the controls are do able from the remote! The remote is clear and looks cool, with a handy clip on the back, which actually works!
So it's easy to record, but what's the sound quality like? In a word, stunning, crystal clear, it actaully puts my large stereo too shame. It's perfect,a nd no matter how high you but the volume or bass, it just won't distort (you can use AVLS too...wimp :)). The treble and bass is perfect, it is a one too one recording of the cd!
The Head phones are not actually as bad as some owners have made out, I have had no problem
s with them, but a pair of sony groove headphones would have been nicer. You also get the optical cable you need to record through (your stereo MUST have a digital output or your screwed), a little bag, battery, and power cable. You also get the fantastic remote. The instructions are quite clear, and simple, and will get you going in no time at all.
It may have a high price tag (£250) but it is worth EVERY penny. It's tiny, easy to use, looks cool, and is feature packed. A must buy if you listen to your music on the go alot, I do!
