Iriver H140 40 GB ... device comes with a charger, usb cable, headphones, a headphone remote control, single point transfer cable, brown leather case and software CD (necessary for people with an earlier version of Windows). I got this back in August 2004 so have been using it regularly for nearly 5 years now. iRiver is an affiliate of Toshiba so these are good quality electronics with great sound quality. In this five years the device has crashed only twice, both times the simple switching off and on again resolved the problem. It is ideal to make the compromise if you regularly watch video. At first glance the huge screen justifies the additional weight, the compact controls are conveniently placed on the right hand side of the display screen. The high quality screen makes it ideal for both watching videos and viewing photos. Archos Gmini 500 40 GB ... have had my Gmini for about a year now. In that time I have only been able to listen to songs on it for about 9 months. It is a brilliant product, which is great for listening to music and watching films with. But the main problem is the lack of accessories and the availability of them. It took me ages to find a decent place to buy new headphones and a new usb cable. Apart from that though it is very good. It has a huge amount of memory, which you can use to store thousands of songs or photos and lots of movies too.
