Apple iPod nano (3G) 4 GB
by haco
This 3rd Gen iPod Nano was bought for me in 2007 to replace my 1st Gen model which was sadly stolen by a couple who were viewing our house (It was left in a drawer in my bedroom, which is beside the point). I remember being extremely exciting as this was the iPod Nano which had the Cover Flow function and video playback! Now, obviously ... in 2013 being able to play a video on a handheld device is the norm, but when these were released the idea of being able to download music videos from the iTunes store and watch them on your iPod was very exciting indeed.
When these were released you could get them black, silver, turquoise, mint green, red and later, pink. I was purchased the wonderful red colour and remarkably 6 years later it still look exactly the same colour as when I first got it. I like to take extremely good care of any gadgetry I own, so aside from a very small scratch on the metal back it looks as good as it did when it left the shop! I even have the Apple drawstring bag, receipt, and original packaging - now that is dedication!
Personally I've found the 4GB enough space for my music collection. I have a much larger collection on my computer, but I went through and selected the ones I was more likely going to listen to whilst out and about. I've never found 4GB to not be enough space, although if I did purchase a model with more storage space, I'd definitely be able to fill it up as well. It's entirely dependent on whether you're the type of person who wants ALL their music on the go with them or not. For me, it's not too much of a big deal. My iPhone can always take on the overspill if it needs to!
The screens are so simple to navigate through, and I still believe that for the iPod the classic click-wheel is the best way to navigate through the menus. I personally don't tend you use the Cover Flow function as I prefer to scroll through my music by Artist rather than album, but it's still a really nice little feature to use.
The build of the iPod Nano is truly exceptional, in the 6 years which I've owned this little beauty nothing has ever gone wrong (touch wood), well nothing apart from the screen freezing on occasion which is ridiculously easy to fix yourself anyway. A lot of people I know who owned these always complained of the metal backing getting extremely scratched, but I've had no such problem as I've used a silicone case the whole time I've had it. Slightly off topic - InCase silicone iPod cases are magnificent. The one I'm using now is the one which was bought with the iPod and is still perfect! The only thing which has changed on the iPod is the headphones and the gradual increase in the quality of the music stored on it. As I have mentioned in another one of my reviews, iPod headphones are absolutely terrible. Don't bother with them!
Basically, if you're thinking of buying an iPod and don't want the lastest generation, consider a 3rd Generation. They're still small by today's standards, and still work perfectly fine! Consider something designed when Apple were still innovative.. Read the complete review |

Apple iPod Nano (4G) 8 GB
by Elharrington
I received this product for Christmas in 2009 and it is still fully functioning today. Though I broke and removed the glass screen, the LCD is still in tact and the iPod is still in working order. The only other issues are atheist ethic which are just through hard wear and tear. Apple products have stormed today's technological market ... producing innovative, creative and sustainable products which range from MP3 players to laptops and also introduced themselves into the tablet market, producing their own range of 'apps' which are unavailable on this device but can consist of games, social networking applications and also informative ones- in the last few years the 'apps' market via apple and android has had astonishing affect on society.
I received the purple model and the finish was fantastic, a metallic dark purple which was smooth and the LCD screen was bright. The best thing is that it can all be changed in the settings as they are extremely customisable- that ranges from the sound volume limit, you can apply different equalisers and also choose a setting to enable a 'shake to shuffle' which shuffles the song or album if you shake the iPod. All these features are good to customise the device to your needs.
Personally I use my iPod when I'm walking to work, going on a journey on my own, am waiting around or on my iPod dock at home and if you are waiting in a boring zone not only do ou have music but you also have a choice of three games. They are pretty standard as far as ability is concerned but they are pretty cool just to have a mess about on in your spare time.
To use it is pretty straight forward, having a circular scroller to navigate and a button in the middle to choose. On the scroller are also buttons to help assist music playback such as play/pause, back, next and menu. These help ease of use greatly. The scroller is used for sound management when the product is playing a song. There is a button at the top to lock the iPod so you can safely get on with your activities without interference.
With these iPods as opposed to the previous generations you may add pictures and videos, although you can't take them as it is the upgrade which has the camera it is always a great storage device.
In the box you receive headphones, the device and also a USB connector to charge it. This would be used to upload music and charge the device when it is dead. At first I found my battery appeared awful but after a while it seemingly got better! I was so happy I only charge it once a week if that.

The quality of this product is fantastic, it never let's me down and I recentlyoat it and bought the upgrade for £70 from cash converters and found it again so I have two and I know I won't need one for a while.
To obtain one it really isn't that expensive anymore, ranging between £60 and &90 and is guaranteed to last you a long time. Apple provide a one year warranty to ensure customer satisfaction.
I would recommend this product over any of the iPods as it is the one that has sustained the most damage and has not deteriorated in quality. Best mp3 I've ever owned. My only issue is that it is restricted to iTunes and can irritate if you plug it in somewhere without iTunes. Other than that great product! Read the complete review |

Apple iPod Nano (4G) 8 GB

APPLE IPOD NANO 4G 8GB
The ipod nano comes with instruction manual, earphones and a usb charger and at the time when mine was purchased it cost around £130, although the are still available to buy now they are slightly cheaper and can be purchased in a lot of major stores such as tesco and argos as well as ... online.
Itunes is easy enough to use so that you can download music onto your ipod although you are able to do this in other ways as well and not just use itunes.
When I first had mine i left it to charge over night so that the battery got a full charge and i was able to use it properly.
This ipod as a small screen which is approx 2 inchs, on this screen you are able to see album art for the song you are playing, you are also able to play games and view pictures and videos and this comes with a 1 year warranty.
Underneath the screen you have a ouch wheel, this allows you to play/pause go forwards and backwards and is easy enough to control.
You can also record your own videos on this, this will hold approx 2000 songs, less if you have games, videos and pictures stored on it.
The ipod nano is available in a range of colours, some that it is available in are pink, black, silver and blue.
I have a pink one.
***MY OVERALL OPINION***
I have had my ipod now for just under 3 years and it is still going strong, I currently have 106 songs on it and 3 videos and still have plenty of room for much more although i can't see myself bothering to put anymore songs on it as im happy with whats on it.
When i first got mine the battery would last me around 5 days, this was with me listening to it every day for a good few hours, especially whilst i was out walking, now though im lucky if i get 5-6 hours use out of a full charge, I can't really complain about this as i have had it a long time.
This has also been dropped (my own fault for leaving it at within kids reach) so it does have a few marks and wear and tear to it but is still working well.
If you want something long lasting with plenty of memory, small and easy to use then this is the ipod i would recommend to you. Read the complete review |
