Advantages: Small, huge capacity, good-looking, east to use

Disadvantages: Rubbish case, no where to attach a chain unless you buy a new case

I bought an 80Gb iPod for £269. The unit is very well built - the finish is white (or black) gloss on the front and chrome on the back. I have currently loaded 1800 music tracks and one episode of The Simpsons (about 25 minutes) and it still has 74Gb free!
The first thing I did was replace the supplied earphones with Sennheiser ones. The supplied earphones aren't too bad musically, but they're not a very good fit in my ears, and the lead is a little short for me.
It comes with a soft 'pocket' case, which means that it's a real pain to access the controls (you have to take it out of the case each time).
The device comes with a USB lead which is used to download music and video and also charge the internal battery. Charging from empty takes 4-5 hours, but there are several 'after market' chargers. My one charges from empty in 2 hours, and plugs into the mains supply. Playing music (where the screen is dark) means the battery lasts for around 20 hours, but for video. the battery gives about 12 hours.
Although alternatives exist, I found that iTunes is the easiest way to download music and video to the iPod. You can either buy music and video from the iTune store (Apple) or import stuff which may be on your computer. Another way is to put a CD in your drive and iTunes asks you if you want to copy the tracks into the iTunes database.
Because of the copy-protection on DVDs, you may need some (free on the Internet) software to rip DVDs and download them to your iPod.
There are hundreds of accessories available, and one of the first I went for was a case to which I could attach a chain (it's small, light and slippery) so that I can't lose it.
As with most digital MP3 players, the sound is crystal clear, and the screen is big enough to be viewed comfortably.

Summary: Expensive, but fantastic!
