Advantages: Easy to use, lots of space for movies,music and pictures
Disadvantages: Shiney side scratches easily
Purchase:
I purchased my 80gb black ipod video 2 weeks ago for £230. The package came with the ipod, a case, usb cable, ipod earphones, base adaptor and manual. This all comes in a very neat box.
Installation:
To put songs, movies, and pictures onto your ipod you will need to download itunes. This program is very easy to use. All you need to do is plug your ipod in and click and drag what media you want onto your ipod.
Battery:
To charge your ipod, you have to plug the ipod into your computer via the usb. You may also want to buy an ipod dock, which can charge the ipod and play your movies and music out loud through built in speakers. The battery life of the ipod is very good. For example, I watched a full length film the other day, and it only used about 1/4 of the battery life. The only thing it struggles with is pictures. The battery life seems to fall dramaticly while viewing pictures full screen
Ease of use:
Using the menus to find and select songs couldnt be easier. Its possible to select songs through Artist names, album names, Song names, and composer. The Circle touchpad takes some time to get use to, and is sometimes hard to select an exact item.
Extra's:
The ipod also includes a number of extras - a calender, Contacts, a stopwatch and games (including a music quiz, which plays a part of a song and lists 4 song names that are incorrect and 1 that is correct.) This is quite a good extra to test your own music knowledge!
Settings: Its possible to change a number of settings on the ipod, such as EQ (Bass booster,Acoustic, Rock etc), a volume limit to prevent blowing your ears up when you start listening!, a brightness control, backlight timer and language controls.
Earphones:
The earphones stay in you ear very easily and the sound quality is also very good. Earphones are included so they are excellent!
Disadvantages:
There are some disadvantages to the ipod. The shiny back, scratches very easily and so I advise you to use the included case as much as possible. Its also hard to keep finger print marks off the front of the ipod and so its quite a good idea to run a rag over the front often.
Summary: Very good, easy to use, good sound quaility
