Great Ipod, nice and cheap now too (Apple iPod (5G) 80 GB)

Advantages: Does everything it needs to do, durable

Disadvantages: Bulky/heavy, poor ipod earphones (in my opinion)

As far as ipods go, this is getting old. I've had mine for a good year and a half but in all that time i had never had the desire to go out and replace it with a newer model.

The main, important features are all in this ipod: It plays videos, it play music, it has a good sized screen etc, the only differences between this and the similar 'ipod classic' are small and unimportant updates to the UI which are nice but not at all neccessary and not worth spending an extra £50 on.

I'm not going to try and agrue that this is better than an ipod touch or iphone because i assume that if you are reading this review you are already leaning towards buying a normal ipod rather than an ipod touch.

This is truely a great mp3/4 player and with 80gb it is likely to fit all of your music on it and as many mp4's as you can be bothered to convert.

One disadvantage i have found about this ipod is that it is thick and bulky and so if you are carrying it in your pocket it creates quite a bulge, its not a huge problem but it's worth mentioning since this is (i believe) the thickest of the modern ipods and may put some people off.

I'd be lieing if i told you it has never frozen but the few times it has done so, the problem has been easily solved with the reset feature (holdig the middle and top button together for 5 seconds or so)

Another problem i found instantly was the terrible ipod earphones it came with, i bought some £10 sony ones pretty quickly which i much prefered.

I bought a silicone case for it but later discovered that it did very little to protect the ipod and took it off soon after, so i wouldnt reccomend buying one of those.

In conclusion, if you are just looking for a decent Mp3 player, this one may be old, but it certainly isnt out dated.

I give this a 4*, only because of its bulky size.
