Advantages: Beautiful design, High storage capacity
Disadvantages: Burns a hole in your wallet
Theirs something really cool happening in this day and age of music. Technology and music have become closer and closer together and Apple has a lot of technology to bring to the party. They?ve got this really cool ethos about them and that?s what makes them so special. They know how to make these cool devices that fit into our lifestyle, streamlining it, making it more efficient. Cool and small doesn?t necessarily mean cheap and nasty. Apple knows how to make things beautiful and fun and bring them to you, not tomorrow, not next week, not next month but today. The Apple iPod is this amazing digital device that is small enough to fit in your pocket, light enough for you to not notice it, yet big enough to carry your whole music collection and contacts together! It?s a complete solution to your music needs. All you need is your iPod, iMac, iTunes and your music in it, plug it in and you got yourself a mobile hard drive that?s so advanced that you?d think it?s from another world. Apple can do this because they make their own hardware and software and they always think about how they can solve people?s problems. Despite their devices being so advanced they manage to simplify things so that you needn?t be a rocket scientist to work out how to work it. This product kicks every other product that?s out now and any other product that?s out tomorrow. Apple is simply the industry leaders in digital music entertainment! The best mp3 player in the world just got better as it gets a re-working under the bonnet. Apple recently re-released their Apple iPod with a tune up under the bonnet. Presenting the new iPod the world?s most stylish piece of hardware which packs over 2000 songs and a 10 hour battery into a stunning 6.5 ounce tin can that you can take anywhere you wish. It comes in two flavours, 5GB or 10GB and its more than enough to take your entire music collection wherever you go. It doesn?t just store mp3?s. No, no, (can you handle the excitement?)
it can also store other files, such as presentations, pictures, documents, and digital movies. The new iPod also includes an address book which you can download from Microsoft Outlook, Palm Desktop and Mac OS X so you can have your information whenever and wherever you happen to be. To enhance your music listening experience 20 preset equalizer functions have been programmed to match your favourite music whether it be classical to hardcore rock it adjusts the dynamics of the sound to best suit the audio. Just hook it up to your Firewire port on your Mac and iTunes will automatically transfer your mp3?s of your Mac and into your iPod. To give you an idea of how fast it is it can do a whole CD in less than 10 seconds or 1000 songs in under 10 minutes (depending on the quality it was recorded at). To top it of the iPod whilst transferring your files will recharge its batteries so that it?ll be ready for use. You can also charge it up via an AC adapter. The iPod has a large LCD display for viewing six lines of text at a time. Theirs also a white light LED in the background to light your screen up when you?re in low-light situations whether you?re indoors or outdoors. The headphones have a high output of 60-mW and amplifies the sound at CD-quality so those out their cant moan about mp3 having poor quality sound. The bass is excellent and at the same time the sound is as good quality as from a CD-Player if not better. The earphones themselves have had a lot of engineering done on it. The result? A Neodymium transducer magnet is put in each earphone which enhances the sound frequency and remarkable high quality sound. If you order your iPod of the Apple.com website you can have a two-line personalized laser engraved label on the back of it. There?s no sound skipping because its digital music at its best. It holds the equivalent of 200 CDs on the 10GB version with mp3?s encoded at 160kbps. At 128kbps
which is the most common compression rate people use you can get 2600 mp3?s (about 260 CD?s) on a 5GB version of the iPod. Not to forget though you can store things other than mp3?s so it?s like having a really stylish floppy disc around with you. The 20 minute skip protection uses 32MB of solid state memory so you will always get skip-free music as 20 minutes of music is buffered/cached into the memory before it reaches your headphones so even those with the most active of life-styles can enjoy the iPod to its fullest potential. 10 hours of music may not seem much but considering it charges whilst connected to your iMac anyway you won?t ever be left without any power. If you?re hurrying to charge it up you can charge the battery up to 80% in one hour. It takes 3 hours to get it fully charged though. There are 15 languages supported by the iPod and this truly shows how Apple have taken into consideration that the rest of the world shouldn?t be deprived of such an amazing device such as the iPod itself. So what do you get when you buy it? You obviously get the iPod with either a 5GB or 10GB hard drive depending on what you asked for, iPod ear bud headphones, Apple Firewire Cable (2 metres), Apple iPod Power cable, CD-ROM with iTunes software, electronic documentation, getting started guide and a 90 day limited warranty. What about cost? It comes with a hefty price tag. The 5GB version costs £349 and the 10GB version costs £80 more at £429. Apart from the size of the drives itself nothing else is different, they look the same, have the same functions, same size and probably weight the same. It?s an extra £40 to personalize it with a laser engraved message so you might want to think twice about what you?re going to write on it. You can purchase accessories from the Apple web-site. You can get an extra power adapter, RCA Audio Cable for hooking your iPod to a stereo system, a high quality speaker system that
you can hook in to your Mac or iPod, an iPod connection kit which includes all sorts of accessories (Auto charger, Cassette tape adapter, Mini stereo to RCA Cable, Mini stereo connection cable (male/female), Mini stereo extension cable iPod cables and accessories pouch), stereo head phones, very high quality stereo headphones. You can be sure these products weren?t just picked at random. If Apple picked them then they must be good. So that?s it basically. If you got a Mac with a Firewire port then you?re in. This is definitely one to get to show of to your mates and the girl sitting across from you on the train.
