A very nice toy, but can the iPod live up to the hype? (Apple iPod classic 120 GB)

Advantages: Good looking and simple to use

We got this for my girlfrind as a gift for her doctorate thesis. Bought it online and had was given the chance of having a message laser engraved on the back; sweet optional!

Back to the product. I've played a lot with it and find it extremelly easy to use, although, being my first iPod I did have to read the manual to figure out how the hell you turn it off... The screen is really good, very bright and with vivid colors. I very much like the simplicity of operation with the multifunction touch wheel. Battery life is pretty good too!

It can probably store a lot more music than you own or like but you can also store pictures and videos or use disk space as a storage device. The sound quality is pretty good although I do not swear by the headphones it comes with... Of course, being used to listen to music in a nice hifi gear I can't really be much o a judge in terms of sound quality: everything sounds dull in comparison.

The thing I like the least is the fact that you have to use iTunes to manage your music and import it to the player. I'm not a fan of iTunes and never will be. Plus, I was rather annoyed that I could not retrieve my own music back from the player...

Summary: A nice player if you need a large screen and a lot of storage space, otherwise you can get cheaper.
