Advantages: Stylish, lots of storage, great sound quality, easy to use.
Disadvantages: Prone to getting scratched.
When the first iPod came out, I was quite resistant and wanted to keep using my portable CD player. However, once I started using it, I was quickly converted. This is the third one I've bought and, so far, the best. I like this design the most, it's very light and slim. Just on looks alone, no other portable music player can compete. But, of course, looks aren't the most important thing.
The sound quality really is excellent and, as a person who loves their music, I want to hear my favourite songs in the best quality and the iPod is pretty unbeatable in this respect. I really like the fact that you can make playlists and the best part of this is the 'on the go' function which means you can make playlists whenever and wherever. Although you can store photos, videos and podcasts on this, I only use it for music. And it has a huge storage capacity so I don't have to worry about not having enough room for all the songs in my music library. But it's not simply a music player, it does have lots of other nice features; the ability to rate songs from 1-5 stars, the ability to shuffle songs, a great quality colour screen and the ability to skip to any point a the song. Apple always packages it's products nicely and this is no exception. The box is small but manages to fit in the instructions, headphones etc as well as the iPod. (Although, I'm unsure what the Apple stickers are for?) It's very nice that it includes headphones but I never wear them as I don't find them to be very good and I feel like they leak sound.
It's basically perfect apart from one little problem. It is prone to getting scratched. My past two iPod's endured numerous batterings in my bags and they soon went from shiny to scratched. I won't make the same mistake this time and I plan on taking better care of it. Especially the back which is like a mirror and is often useful as one.
It isn't cheap but you do get what you pay for and Apple products are quite well-wearing. Anytime I leave the house I use my iPod so it gets a lot of use. But this is only the third one I've had in 10 years so I'd say that's pretty good.
Use - 5/5.
Value for money - 5/5.
Design - 4/5.
Summary: Nothing comes close to it.
