Advantages: Robust, Funky and Very Easy to Use
Disadvantages: None that I can think of!
Well I am only a few years behind the trend but finally I have my hands on an Apple iPod Classic. What a fantastic piece of kit and well worth the wait!
There is no way I can be classed as technologically adept but this is so user friendly that even I had it sorted within five minutes. (this is from the man who struggles with an electric can opener!)
It is nice and chunky (not bulky), a comfortable size and weight that fits into a pocket nicely. The exterior is very funky; mine has a metallic silver case (although I have got a protective rubber sleeve over it - I always practice safe listening!).
The display panel is a good size and is very clear. The menu structure is simple and the navigation is logical. The touch wheel is great to use and makes browsing hundreds of songs, audio books and podcasts simplicity itself. Locking the device is done via a simple slide switch.
Although I am using the standard headphones the sound quality is fantastic and I just can't justify spending money on expensive headphones when these are so good. The built in graphic equalizer has a very good range of presets that add to the overall experience and once again this is easily accessible via the main menu.
Adding and deleting content between the computer and the iPod device is simplicity itself. When connected to a computer it automatically launches iTunes, (if you don't have this on your system it is available via a quick download), on first use it will search your entire system for compatible content from music to videos. Just select what you want to be uploaded onto the iPod and press 'sync'. Hey presto!
In addition to the above you can get free podcasts from variuos sources, for example I subscribe to Scott Mills Daily (Radio 1) and this is downloaded into iTunes by simply clicking on the refresh button in iTunes.
Conclusion - if you are thinking of getting an MP3 player then look no further than the iPod Classic, it's worth every penny.
Summary: Fantastic peice of kit - worth every penny

- 14/12/07 this is a example of a good report without tones of technical data copied from somewhere else, but nevertheless check the zune player before |
