It's hard to believe that this little baby was originally released five years ago! It seems like it was yesterday (ok, not yesterday, maybe the day before) that the market was flooded with them. The ipod mini was a cheaper alternative to the ipod. Available in 4gb initially and then 4gb and 6gb models as the second generation came along, this was a more pocket-friendly option than the gargantuan sized ipod.

Upon release, the ipod mini was a massive success and proved to be hugely popular amongst the younger generation who could not afford the ipod. 4GB and 6GB is enough memory for normal music consumers, the more dedicated listener may need more space, this was an issue dealt with by apple when they released the ipod nano.

Using the mini couldn't be easier, load your tracks into itunes, hook your ipod up to the computer via the usb cable and there you go. Once the songs are on the ipod you are only ever a few clicks away from any song.

My girlfriend has the mini, its lasted almost five years and is stil going. Ok, so there is the occassional crash and sometimes the buttons take a long time to respond but generally, its not too bad. Its brought us hours of happiness.
