Advantages: Slim, easy download, cheap,
Disadvantages: Prone to scratches
Ever since the older MP3 players, where putting music on was quite difficult and a hassle, popularity has dramatically risen due to the introduction of iPods. Their sleek, smart, modern design has made them popular worldwide. iPods also come in a variety of storage sizes, which determines the memory storage, thus determing the amount of songs and photos that can be stored on the device.
Design
The iPod Nano is a small MP3. It's very slim and compatible making it easy for transportation and storage. You can purchase them in a large variety of colours, mostly metallic colours for that modern look which stands out. The rear side of the iPod is usually a metal side engrossed with the iPod logo. The screen is small, but very good definition. Sound quality is also very good.
Features
As well as the obvious feature, holding songs, the iPod can also do other things. Contained on the iPod is usually a calendar, address book, games (including Solitaire) and applications to hold personal photos as well as many more.
Memory
I think the memory of the iPod is good, depending on the size you choose. Memory ranges from 2GB and higher, enabling you to install a few hundred songs and photos.
Easy to use?
I personally think the iPod Nano is extremely to use. With its touch sensitive pad its easy to scroll through your songs as well as adjust the volume. You can set your own playlist just by selecting a track and holding down the centre button. If you want your tracks shuffled, then you also have the option to do that too.
Downloading songs
The application you need to install for iPod to import tracks is iTunes. This is a free, simple application so you can manage your songs on and off the iPod. Its easy to download too, just connect your iPod to the USB port using the additional cable. Then from there you just have to drag your songs onto the iPod icon to install them onto your device.
Its by far the easiest method I have used for importing tracks onto a music system.
Prices
The iPod Nano is in my opinion fairly cheap for what it does. The 2GB usually ranges from about £90, depending on the place of purchase. Prices go up slightly for the higher memory devices. Overall I think the price is great for what the device holds.
Disadvantages
Even though the good points, there are a few bad points too. Due to the size of this product, it can be fairly easy to lose or misplace, so keep an eye out!
Also the touch sensitive control pad can easily be accidently activated, causing either the song to change or the volume to change, so I would suggest using the Hold button for times when the device is not in use.
The iPod, especially the metallic backing, is very prone to scratching. I would recommend purchasing one of the protective cases for added protection.
Overall I would recommend anyone of any age to purchase the iPod Nano as its fun, one of the best MP3's around and definitely worth every penny.
