Advantages: really great design, super sexy

Disadvantages: like always, battery life, earphone, it gets broken quite easily

I'm not going to talk about the specifications in detail since you can browse it through the apple website and this review is going to be a bit personal.

My experience with iPods. - Crap~~~
I have to say that iPod is ok~, they are not that great to have. First iPod I had was iPod 3G and that iPod was ok until one day, the screen broke on me, so I got a repair from Apple since I was under the one year guarantee however, whenever I received it, it was already broken. So I sent it off again, and which then I received a normal iPod which actually worked. I used this until the screen broke AGAIN, which then I totally gave up and did not buy another iPod for another year. Then iPod Nano 2nd Generation came out and I was immediately stunned by its design. I didn't really care how much money I had in my bank and I just bought it for myself. I was happy with the product this time because it actually worked haha.

NB, please get iPods from Apple Website or Apple Shop! I know that EBay is cheap and all, but half of iPods which are sold are not in guarantee or is not working properly. Also, the fun of buying it from the Apple Website is the engraving on the back. This does really make you iPod YOURS.
When I received the product - I really liked the clear Perspex box that came with it. I didn't want to take the Nano out of the box. But then I eventually did because I wanted to listen to the music haha.

The second thing I did - link it to the computer and start downloading it onto my Nano which took several minutes since I had a lot of songs. The whole iTune thing was quite hard to handle at first which was like couple of years ago, but now it's quite easy to handle. I didn't quite get the whole adding the folder and downloading thing which I had to read a manual for.
The third thing about this iPod connection - when I got the old iPod 3g, I got the charger with it but with this Nano, I had no idea how to charge the battery until I had to read a manual saying that you can charge by connecting to the computer. This I found very inconvenient since I had to turn my computer on to charge this little Nano which also takes quite a lot of time.

The fourth thing about this iPod Nano - iPod is a music player and I kind of don't get why apple had to add photo application on to it. Think about it, why do u want to browse photos while you are listening to the music that you are enjoying? Ok, maybe it's portable and you want to show the photos to people whenever you are outside but it's really unnecessary. Also, it's not like you can change the photos to anything and print it off through printer. I myself don't use photos at all. Also, I have never seen my iPod friends showing their photos through iPod.

The fifth thing about this Extra section - as you know, on the game section, you can play solitaire, parachute, music quiz, Brick but the only game I play is Music Quiz. It is a time killing game. As you would know, but the purpose of the game is choose a correct song that is played during the game. I have played this game an hour straight and its addictive because the songs are those you have in your iPod and it is time limited and you get to urge to choose the correct song and somehow you get it wrong. I don't' play other games because the screen is really small and my eyes hurt since I have to squint my eyes a lot.

The thing about the size, weight, dimensions etc - It's smaller than iPod Mini and other iPod series. The thickness of this Nano is really thin and it's really good the way you can't tell that you have an iPod in your pocket. It's also superlight but that doesn't mean that you can just throw your iPod since it's quite brittle. I also like the material used - its very smooth and almost feels like I'm handling a baby (you do need to take care of this Nano since it gets scratched easily).I think its wise to buy one of the plastic case for protection, it may make your Nano ugly but protection does come first. Good thing about the black one is that the scratch doesn't show much as the other Nano coloured ones.

NOTE, no, this is ESSENTIAL - Bin the iPod earphone and get yourself a quality earphone and I'm begging of you too since iPod earphone is just not up to the standard. I have about 7 iPod earphones and 5 of them broke on me.........this really does tell you to get a quality earphone. Any earphones can beat the iPod earphone, even the 10 pounds one you get in EBay.

The thing about 8GB? - We think that 8GB is quite small but I myself think that 8GB is a lot. Maximum of 2000 songs is huge also the fact that I don't store photos I can fully use the maximum amount of 8 GB. Currently, I have around 1000 songs and I don't think I have listened to all of them.

The thing that really makes the iPod the THING - the touchpad, it cannot get any simpler. 4 buttons - Menu, Play, Back, Forward which does everything. I really like the feeling of scrolling up and down the songs. I do this scrolling every time I listen to my iPod, almost like an addiction which cannot be stopped.

Another thing that makes this Nano the annoying - the battery life. I'm not going to say much since I think everyone knows but I have to say this - I charge my iPod roughly 10 times a week.

Necessary for the iPod user (I'm guessing you already do) - since it's a touchpad, when you turn off the iPod, you really need to put the iPod in hold position. Even sometimes, I forget to put it in the hold position and I always hear my iPod playing songs on its own and next thing, my battery life is gone.

Overall, Nano is a decent iPod and the design is super sexy. But I do think it lacks quite a lot for a MP3 player. I recommend this iPod Nano if you really love Apple but if you are looking for a decent MP3 player, then don't get it. I don't consider Nano as a MP3 player but more of a Portable Media Player.

My experience with the Ipod were similar. I bought one NOT directly from Apple and it went bust immediately.
