I have mixed feelings about this. I've tried the original Ipod Nano and have a old very early pink version of I think and Ipod mini (Did they exist?! Much bigger than a nano and smaller than a full-on ipod - sorry my brain is deserting me!!) I loved both and the new ipod nano is still great. But I have to say I preferred the original ipod nano. It was smaller and sleeker.

If you haven't tried an ipod at all, this is a great investment, as it's so much cheaper and the itouch and iphones and full on ipods available but does so much more than an ipod shuffle, which loses a lot of the technology without the screen (they still look funky though!).

This new ipod nano has a bigger screen which is good for looking at album covers but I don't particularly want to anyway. The functionality is superb. You can zoom around your music collection and music playlists looking up the artist, song or genre that you want to listen to. However, it is a bit bigger than the original nano, which is why I'm not so keen. 4gb of memory is great but I haven't even filled up my ickle olde nano yet and I have hundreds and hundreds of tracks on there.

The good old spinning wheel control is easy to use, though with some covers it can be more difficult - but this applies to all ipods.

Basically, if you are a newbie to the ipod world, a new nano is a good way to go - not as expensive at the ipod, smaller and sleeker but still has a lot of functionality; and yet far superior to the ipod shuffle which other than looking super cool is a bit of an embarrassment for Apple in my opinion.

P.S. I'm LOVING all the new colours available - in fact, although I've said I'm not keen I'm almost talking myself into getting one!! No. I must resist. The original nano is best.
