Advantages: Battery life, personalisation, memory
Disadvantages: No apps/internet access
This is quite honestly the most fantastic piece of equipment I have ever owned. The memory is just large enough to mean I don't have to constantly remove and re-add music depending on my mood that day, I can have my entire collection on it (though obviously this depends how extensive your collection is). The sound quality is fantastic which is all you really want from an ipod. I loved having a choice of the colour, it meant it could be at least a bit personalised (and from some places you can even get them engraved). The battery life is fantastic and has lasted throughout its life (I have owned the ipod for nearly 4 years), it is only just beginning to die, and that is my own fault through leaving it to charge for too long, if properly cared for it would still be perfect.
The features on the ipod work perfectly and make it much better for music listening on the go i.e. shuffle by shaking is very useful as you don't have to fiddle around with the menus! Also the cover flow is useful to scroll through your albums quickly and easily!
The screen is easy to see even in sunlight, and has never been damaged despite being shoved into my bag without a case with my keys and dopped on the floor several times. This shows its durability and means that even after 4 years it still looks new!
One of the problems I have found with it is the headphones that come with it, Apple headphone peel and break within a very short time of having them and are very expensive to replace, to this end I would recommend buying your own head phones! Also the click wheel is no longer as smooth as it was, it sometimes doesn't work very well at all and it takes several attempts to scroll down to the song that you want, however, this doesn't happen very often and so it is a very minor issue. However, one of the more annoying problems is that my lock button has stopped correctly functioning so sometimes it won't lock at all and songs start playing to themselves or it runs down my battery when I am not even using it - I don't know if this is a problem with other peoples nano's, but it's just something to watch out for if you intend on getting one!
Also, if you are intending on using it for apps/more than just music, it would be better to go for an ipod touch as this has none of those features. This doesn't bother me as I can just use my phone or the computer, but if you want more than just music I would suggest looking at other (probably more recent models).
Summary: Best mp3/music player ever owned, only very small issues!
