Advantages: Excellent sound and picture quality.
Disadvantages: The price. Ouch. Worth it though.
Apple and iPod have already gained a sterling reputation for the mp3 products they have made lately, and this one does not fail to impress too.
Similar to the 3rd generation Nano, not much has really changed apart from a few special features and most notably, the shape and size. These new iPods look a lot sleeker, yet more fun at the same time, than the previous ones, and are more ergonomically friendly at the previous iPods had a tendency to be so small it was difficult to get a good grip!
I really love that you can get these iPods in a whole host of colours too, rather than you standard black or white as previous. You can get the 3rd gen ones in black and white, but as well you can get bright pink, blue, green, yellow and purple. They all look really stylish.
For me, 8GB was more than enough memory. I'd say that's about 4,000 songs. Not just that, but you can watch films, TV shows, cartoons on your iPod which can be brought from iTunes. You'd think watching a film on a tiny little screen would be annoying, but the graphics are incredible, and if you're on a plane or train journey, even a long car journey (obviously if you're not the driver!) then it's an enjoyable way to wile away the hours.
The iPods are really easy to use. There is a click wheel below the screen, which is touch sensitive and is used to look through song lists, or other lists (movies, pictures, etc) and to turn the volume up and down. At the top of the wheel there's a click button which says 'Menu' and this does what it says on the tin - goes back to the Menu or previous screen. At the bottom of the wheel is a play symbol, and again, pretty self explanatory, you click this to play or pause a song. In the centre of the wheel is a normal button, and this is used as an 'enter' or 'okay' key.
Battery life is generally really good in iPods, and has been improved in this new 3rd generation model, so now you can listen to what you want or watch what you want for longer.
There are plenty of other MP3 players on the market that are a lot cheaper (these are now going for £129.99 in most places) but you won't receive the same sound quality, picture quailty or ergo friendly stylish shape as an iPod. I definitely recommend these.
