Advantages: Looks good

Disadvantages: a little small and only plays music

Before going to university my mum offered to buy me an ipod to shut out any noise in my halls. She was right, I needed it. However, the headphones that came with it are rubbish, I have tiny ears so they don't fit at all! I replaced them and jobs a good'n.

When I came to buy my nano I had to chose between the new touch screen one, the 4gen one and a touch. I chose the 4gen one. I do like my nano, it is purple, shiny and plays music. But thats about it. I should have bought a touch. The problem with the nano is that it doesn't really no much more. There is a camera, but it is a video camera. I have absolutely no use for this at all. If apple had installed a image capturing camera it would be much more useful.

But when it does come to playing music it is ideal. I love that you can tilt it and the display tilts too! It has the cover art which is easy to scroll through. However, it is sometimes difficult to manage because I am not very good at swirling the wheel because I end up pressing the middle button by accident and fast forwarding the song!

Now I live in a quieter house I hardly use my ipod. I don't walk anywhere with headphones in because I just feel like I have lost a sense! It is also a little big for putting in my pocket when going for a run etc. I know there are products on the market to strap them to yourself but I would rather remove the hassle of pulling out my head phones, or dropping my ipod or scratching it.

I must admit the novelty has worn off. If my ipod was a bit bigger I would not have to restrict the amount of songs as much. I get bored with the limited space.

My advice is to think about what you want before you buy. If you want something to play music a nano is ideal. But if you are like me and get bored easily buy something that has gives you a little more entertainment like a touch. My brother has one and the apps are great. Hindsight is fantastic but I have my nano and as a music player it is satisfactory, however 8GB a little small.

Summary: reliable music player that just plays music
