Apple iPod Nano (4G) 8 GB
Advantages: Lasted well, pleasing sound, easy to use
Disadvantages: Internal speaker is poor, fading battery
I got this MP3 player as a present a few years ago. It is still going strong and I thought i would share my views with you below.
COLOURS - Wide range of colours. I got the purple which is a nice vibrant colour which has certainly stood the test of time. I have however, for most of time, had it protected by a jelly case.
PAUSE FEATURE - if your headphones fall out by accident (not that this would happen due to a design fault, just in case you yank them out by accident) the track will pause
COLOUR SCREEN - the screen has colour which is nice and technically means that videos can be played, though with modern smart phones and the size of the screen on the iPod makes this a feature I don't tend to use.
SOUND QUALITY - I'm not a particular sound connoisseur but the sound quality is pleasing
I am increasingly finding that the product's battery is not lasting as long as it used to. I don't use it all that often any more as I don't have a long commute so it may sit in my bag unused for a few weeks. I find that though it went into my bag on full charge, that charge has reduced to a reasonable extent by the time I get it out again.
INTERNAL SPEAKER - while it is a useful feature to be able to play music from your MP3 player in a way other than through headphones, the quality of playing the music through the device's speaker is quite poor and will not go particularly loud. I cannot see a real use for this feature for most users on a day to day basis, but I suppose a useful feature to some extent, though could have been executed in a better way.
SOUND BLASING - If you start playing a track and you haven't realised your headphones are not plugged in, it will start playing it through its internal speaker. This may happen if it is buried in your back and you forgot to lock it, you don't realise your headphones have come out etc. I find this really quite embarrassing when I'm at the gym and at happens etc - I would have liked people not to know I was listening to Aqua's Barbie Girl while on the crosstrainer. I haven't found a way to turn it off but I may have missed something.
Summary: A functional product that will disappoint very few
