Apple iPod nano (5G) 16 GB
Advantages: Alot packed into a small device mp3, radio, films, video camera etc.
Disadvantages: has a bad loud speaker on it
At first glance I really liked the look of the nano, it was small, sleek and stylish and unlike my previous mp3 I wouldn't know I had it in my pocket all the time. Setting up the ipod was really easy it was as simple as plug it into my computer and let itunes update the firmware and set it up.
My first apprehension was indeed itunes because I had alot of trouble using the software with my iphone it was however so much easier for the nano, to put music onto the device it was simply a drag and drop and watch it sync.
The device itself comes in a variety of colors and is roughly 3.5 inches long and 1.5 inches wide as far as compact goes you don't really get much better than that. You can buy the nano in either 8GB or 16GB which will hold up to 2,000 or 4,000 songs, 7,000 or 14,000 photos, 8 hours or 16 hours of video. A nice feature is you can use part of the memory as a USB flash drive for portable data. The screen has a 2.2 inch screen which is really clear and easy to see and even a delight to watch videos from.
One of the main selling points to this device would be the camera on the back, I should say though however this is a video camera and cannot be used to take photo's. The video recorder in itself is a cool feature but one which only really a novelty on my own ipod and something I very rarely use.
The main reason its used of course is for the music I have the 16GB version and this can hold more music than I can think of and even after all my music and 3 films i'm still only using 7GB of space leaving me with more than half still to use. The sound quality with the headphones is really good this will of course depend on what headphones you are using but with the standard headphones that come with the ipod the sound is more than satisfying. The speaker however I think really lets the nano down the sound is tinny and its really quiet but again that's not something that gets used a whole lot.
It also has the option to play some games, it has 3 games already loaded onto it and the option to buy many more from itunes there are always new games coming out and most of them are really quite cheap.
The nano also comes with a radio which is suprisingly good, ive used some mp3 radios where the signal is just no good and you keep loosing the sound this however does not seem to be the case with the nano as it can hold the radio quite steady.
Along with all this the nano also has an alarm clock, a stopwatch and a pedometer! This truly is a nifty little device and I never leave the house without it, I have nothing but good things to say about this as I have been through many mp3's most of which always have something that bugs me until I get rid of it. The nano on the other hand is just the perfect way to carry around my music and even a few films for those longer journeys.
Summary: Great device recommend to anyone looking for a good mp3.
