{~~~Introduction~~~}
I previously had the original iPod Mini and I actually wanted a new iPod but couldn't justify the cost at the time as the Mini was working fine. But I managed to win this iPod in a competition with Alfa Romeo in which participants had to play an online racing game and attempt to achieve a high score. The first prize was a car, but I was quite content with my prize.
{~~~Packaging~~~}
I was pleasantly surprised to receive the iPod in a small plastic transparent box with just a cable and small booklet. I loved it but, stylish and simple.
{~~~First Impression~~~}
I honestly loved the feel of the iPod and the look. In fact, I still prefer this design to the latest iPod nano.
{~~~Design~~~}
The iPod is rectangular with curved edges and a big screen. It is very good looking and there is a lock button on the top. The audio jack is at the bottom. The material does seem quite prone to scratching, but bought a belkin leather case in which the iPod is always held so I have no scratched on it.
{~~~Setting the iPod up~~~}
Set-up was simple. I had to download iTunes and connect the iPod to the computer to sync the iTunes and iPod software and all of my music, etc.
{~~~Functions~~~}
I'm sure everyone is aware that the primary function of the iPod is to play music, but Apple have also incorporated the function to view videos and photos on the iPod as well as contacts and notes. One thing I quite like is the option to add lyrics to each song.
However, all of these functions can only be utilised by connecting the iPod to the computer and using itunes, so it is limited in this sense.
{~~~ User friendliness~~~}
The interface on the iPod is really quite simple and self-explanatory. I can't see anyone having problems using the iPod
{~~~Sound Quality~~~}
The sound quality of this is really quite good in my honest opinion. I haven't got much to compare it to but it goes really loud and the clarity of the sound is good. There are also EQ options available, however these impact the battery life.
Also, the included headphones aren't great, so I recommend purchasing some new ones. I am currently using a-jays two and am really impressed, they are by far the best headphones I have had.
{~~~Battery Life~~~}
The battery life is quite decent. It lasted me about 6 hours when I first received it, but now, a year or so on, it lasts closer to four, which is good enough for me
{~~~Final thoughts~~~}
If you are looking to get a compact iPod but don't like Apple's newest iPod Nano, which is more like a shuffle, I would highly recommend this iPod! It is comfy to hold, the screen is big and its just fantastic!
Summary: Highly recommended MP3 player!
