Apple iPod nano (6G) 8 GB
Advantages: small, light, stylish
i decided to buy an ipod nano after buying a new car with an mp3 connection, i thought this would be alot easier then having to keep remembering to swap CD's around to listen to something different. i was suporsed at how small the nano is when it can store so much. the screen is 1.5 inchesand it is extremely thin and very very light, you hardly know you are holding it. i brought mine in pink as this was i felt the nicest of the colours, i was hoping to get a nice purple one that was used on the old generation nano but sadly this was not one of the options. i think this was the only let down to be honest. so far the battery life is very impressive, i can listen to music for around 20+ hours before having to think about plugging in.
loading music onto the device is incredably easy, just add to your itunes and then plug the nano into your computer and it syncs straight to the nano with out any problems and will not duplicate what you already have. takes just a few minutes to do and so very easy.
there are several options on the device, the playlist is a very good one to use as with this you can select our favourite songs to play in this setting and create different albums maybe for different activities that you do.
genius i do not use very much as this looks at what you listen to most and tries to find similar songs within your library.
the "shake" to shuffle is an excellant extra and makes it very easy to shuffle when exercising or driving.
i feel the music quality is also brilliant, i have still kept the ipod headphones that came with the device but do find they do not stay in very well when moving.
There is also a radio on the device which is good but can be a bit crackley at times, but this is to be expected from such a tiny little device. you can also select stations as your favourite so they are always tuned in if you want to listen. you can also pause and rewind the radio once you have started listening.
there is also a podcast setting but i have not really tested this out yet, but you can downloads loads of different podcasts from itunes.
there are many settings too for the little device, wallpaper, brightness, photo settings as well as many others. there is also a pedometer which can be very usefull to count steps and see your distance especially if you are going running or jogging. you can also see your personal bests and your workout totals. the old ipod did come with a camera but to be honest what would you use this for, the qality would never be as good as you would need and everyone now uses their phone or camera to take photos, this is not needed on such a small device and im glad they didnt fit it in.
i LOVE this little nano, i never go out without it
Summary: brilliant little device, everything you need to listen to good quality music
