Apple iPod nano (6G) 8 GB
Advantages: great design, easy to work with the screen
Disadvantages: the apple earphones
During the last years I went through many MP3 players and I was always a bit anti-iPod. I thought the price was high compared to the technical specifications. After more than five mp3 and mp4 players from different brands such as Creative, Philips and Difference, I decided to give the Apple brand a chance. The iPod nano was my first choice since the 8 gigabyte storage capacity was sufficient and the design beautiful. He also looked pretty solid.
The Nano came in a very small box which includes earphones and a USB charger were included. A disadvantage is that there is no plug included. It must be purchased separately. If you don't want to buy the charge then you can charge the iPod via the computer.
The Ipod does not have to be installed but you need to install Itunes, you can get this free trough the website. It is however a severe and long installation. From here we have the first major drawback of the iPod in general because you can only use it with Itunes. You cannot just copy files from a computer and put it on your Ipod when Itunes is not installed. Also you cannot use the iPod as a USB stick, which is the case with other MP3 players. ITunes itself is a very good program to play music with also you can easily put songs on your Ipod through the files just from the library to drag to your Ipod.
The iPod is available in multiple colors; I found the silver in beautiful contrast with the black screen when the iPod is off. The screen takes up almost the entire front since it is also a touchscreen. The back consists of a clip which functions like a clothespin. Also the back shows off of the Apple logo. At the bottom are the inputs for the earphones and the USB charger. At the top you will find three buttons. One for the Ipod to put on sleep mode or turn on and off. Two which you can control the songs.
The earphones are white and rather unreliable. Almost everyone I know has bad experiences with Ipod earphones. They really break easily though it sounds reasonable.
The display is truly revolutionary. By swiping over the screen you go in no time from one menu to another menu. Besides simply click the desired choice by means of a finger. The calibration is excellent and never are two symbols so close together that you accidentally click wrong. There have been since the latest update two different start screens. One in which there are four logos in one frame that you can click on, and the other which all other logos are arranged from right to left.
The iPod automatically enters sleep mode if you leave him a few seconds alone. You must click at the top right button to turn it back on. A disadvantage is that you are not a number can go forward or back to sleep. You must first iPod back on. Select songs or skip occurs namely via the touchscreen.
The Radio is a function that works perfectly. You can go from one station to another and navigate between by clicking a radio station as a favorite. Additionally you can filter on local radio stations and see the just played songs name, artist and album.
The fitness function is also very convenient. The iPod is ideal for running because he is so small and light and easy to fasten on clothing. Using this feature allows you to choose a walking or running workout. Then you can turn on some music from a playlist and record how far you have ran, your average speed and so on. Also the Ipod show how many calories you've burned when you have entered your weight and height.
The Ipod can be used up to three days at a decent battery life when you use him 4 hours per day. Features such as radio and fitness will of course drain the battery faster.
The Ipod is wonderful to look at, very small and solid. Secondly the navigation very simple and user friendly but very functional. Thirdly the functions are in every detail worked out, everything works better than any mp3 player before. For me five stars.
