Advantages: Small, cute ipod with pleasant, easy to use interface
Disadvantages: Small hard-drive
So following the death of my ipod classic, and generally disliking the interface of all other mp3 players, I decided to purchase a black, third generation 8gb ipod nano.
Firstly, I was impressed with the size. The packaging was sized as something you'd find in a small sweet shop. Inside the package are some instructions, the ipod itself and one pair of the newest generation ipod earphones.
My first letdown was the inability to put my at the time ~1700 song library onto the ipod, although I was aware that the description was most likely to mean an average of 2000 3 minute long songs. This is where I'd like to recommend a different model if you're looking to put a large library on here or use your ipod for hard-drive usage.
The interface on the ipod is spectacular. It features several new functions, some of which are: a new, advanced quiz, a 3d adaptation of brick, an option to scroll through album covers like a record collection, a function to search your library-inputting characters with the scroll wheel, and the display of album artwork on side of the menu.
The battery life for this thing is also considerably long, it has lasted me days of quite avid use before draining.
The pleasant, welcoming interface with the considerably useful and entertaining options is one of the reasons I fell in love with it. All in all, it's a cute little thing.
Aside from that, I've had trouble with ipod earphones breaking swiftly in the past, although the new generation of earphones included in the package have lasted me months so far with no signs of breakage.
Summary: Overall pretty good, I'm pleased with it although it cannot hold my entire library
