Advantages: Easy to use, looks good

Disadvantages: Slightly hard to use with some docking systems, audiophiles may find sound quality not good enough

Personally I have the nano 2g whereas my fiancee has the 3g which I'm reviewing here. The 3g nano is very different to the 2g, it's shorter but fatter, has a bigger screen and can play videos.

The interface is the same as all ipods which the touch sensitive jockey wheel at the bottom used to scroll through the menus and the central button for selecting items.

The ipod is easy to use and has an intuitive and bright interface, the 3g also shows album covers for the tracks you are playing, which is nice.

Sound quality, I would say, is the same as any other ipod really, it comes with the standard white headphones, which aren't the best but are good enough, although the rubber outer bit has started to flake off on mine :( I guess if you're an audiophile then you may not be 100% satisfied with the sound quality but it's fine for me!

To put songs on the ipod you typically use itunes which can be downloaded from the website. This program is easy to use but I would suggest setting the sync mode to manual so you can choose which songs to go onto the ipod, I rip my Cds using the maximum quality mp3 so I have far more gig wise on my pc than would ever fit on my ipod.

One final point, we have a Bose sound-dock (portable version) in which we used the 3g nano and whilst it's fine and plays well etc, it's a little annoying as due to the stumpy nature of the nano the jockey wheel is slightly below the cradle it sits in making it harder to use. Not a problem with the 4g nano I would expect.

A great little device for playing music on the go, I certainly wouldn't want to carry one of those 80gig monster ipod around with me.

Summary: A brilliant piece of audio kit
