Apple iPod nano 2 GB
Advantages: Slim, Colour screen, Photo storage
Disadvantages: Bad value for money
Ok, I got my Ipod nano nearly a year a go now, and even though I know most of the reviews on this product are very positive, I cannot say that I have have been completely satisfied. I will tell you some of the positive and negative issues I have had with the nano and then I will let you decide for yourselves what you think.
When I first got the nano, I was shocked at the size of it, it was tiny, but it seemed amazing, it had a colour screen and you could even store pictures and play games on it as well. it was also extremely thin. This was an advantage because i could put it in my pocket while listening to the music. However I soon found out the material which the nano is made from scratches easily and there were loads of little marks on it before long. Because of this I bought some of the rubber cases to store the nano in, however these didnt cover the main screen and therefore the marks just became worse. I also have a couple of friends who have had problems with their Ipods and they have had to be sent off to be repaired a couple of times, this has never happened to me personally.
The CD which my Ipod came with, had a program called itunes on it, which I installed to my computer, however , I have now found everytime, I play music using this program on my computer, the tracks jump. I have to admit though, this does not affect the quality of the music which is then produced on the ipod itself and could have possibly been caused due to a fault with my computer.
Later on this year my parents bought me a new mp3 player, by sony. It had 20gb of space and was amazingly cheap in comparison with the £130 that I spent on the 2gb nano. Also, although I have only had this device for roughly 3 months now, there is not a single scratch on the body, also the battery in the sony lasts for much longer.
In conclusion, I believe that the only real reason why I purchased an Ipod nano was because of the fashion statement it made, everybody wanted one, so I wanted one to. There is nothing technically wrong with Ipod nanos and I personally, appart from the scratches and the problems I have had with i tunes, have not had any real problems with the product, however I have realised that the Ipod nanos are not very good value for money, and there are other products in the market with more to offer at a more reasonable price.
Summary: The Ipod nano, is it really worth the price tag?
