My experience with the ipod shuffle has been great, in fact it's changed my life. I've found it really easy to use, and it looks a cool piece of kit to pull out of your pocket at the bus stop and say hey dude look at me, I'm one cool cat with tunes that will make you shuffle all day long and throughout the night.

The iPod was made to be fondled. The front of the Shuffle has the control pad designed for the 21st century. A round dome shaped centre Play/Pause button longs to be pressed and caressed and wrapped elegantly around this are the rather stylish fast forward and rewind buttons. As the name implies with this device you can put your tunes on shuffle mode and fill your day with lots of little surprises. Just plug iPod shuffle into your computer's USB port, and let your favourite musical flavours flood in, up to 240 of them. It can also be used as a flash drive, so you can store your documents/files and transfer them to another PC. It is compatible with PC or Mac and also comes in a 512MB version.

When fully charged it usually lasts me about 2 weeks or 12 hours none stop. A small almost hypnotic LED light will indicate a low battery by showing amber if the battery is low. This is located near the power on/of button on the posterior of the device. On the reverse there is also a switch that allows you to flick between 'play in order', 'shuffle' or 'off'.

One possible downside the Shuffle is the lack of any screen so you are not able to view the title of your itunes - you can't choose what you're playing nor see what's playing although you can still quickly flick through what your looking for. It's also very light, maybe too light, so much so that it almost floats out of your pocket. As it's only 8.4mm thin it so easy to forget at times that you've got it on you. I've heard a lot of bad vibes about this little device conking out and breaking down but after 4 months mine is still playing my random tunes of love and inspiration.

I've never been a great advocate of Mp3 tracks, the tinny quality has never brought total satisfaction to my delicate musical sensibilities. The iPod however, somehow manages to extract the best out of the Mp3 giving it a clean bass boost that will have you boogie woogie boogying along the high ways and by ways. The iPod Shuffle also supports AAC, WAV and Audible formats.

The snazzy earphones are also a joy to plug into your shell-likes and seem to fit smugly into all sizes no doubt due to the double protected interior sponge for added comfort. In terms of sound reproduction however, there are better quality headphones out there. Leaving this aside I really like the space age design and the whole ergonomic experience of this miniature piece of portable technology that simply breathes through the zeitgeist.
