Advantages: Easy to use, easy to live with!
Disadvantages: None of the normal novelties
I have had nearly every ipod since 2001, so it seamed appropriate to buy the cheapest one to date.
My first impression of this device were honestly not good at all. I mean a ipod with no screen, limited control and small memory. You having a laugh!. However, it you take the things that are most important into consideration, then this device isn't that bad.
The quality of sound that comes out of the small box like device is absolutely brilliant. I have recently purchase a new ipod touch and i have to say that the sound out of the shuffle sounds so much better (it also goes allot louder). To test the sound out, i gave the device to my grandparents. They were amazed how good the sound was out of the small device after the got over the fact that music can be stored on something so small.
For the first time ever, my grandparents could actually use this device without any problems what so ever. Maybe the ipod shuffle should be the way all MP3 players are made. After all who needs all the novelties on a MP3 player, all you need it to do is play the music stored on it.
The design of the device is how you would imagine a apple ipod to be like. Basic, curvy and modern. However there is more to this device than you would expect. I use the gym at least 3 times a week and this is the only MP3 player which i haven't got annoyed with. This is because there is a handy clip on the back of the device so i can attach it straight onto my cloths. Therefore there is no pulling sensation as the device is not low in my pocket while I'm running on the treadmill. The design of the device is also so small that it doesn't get it the way of any movement i make. I have taken my touch down to the gym many times and it has always ended up with me putting the device back into my bag after i have used it.
The memory of this device isn't really a problem either. I use my laptop nearly everyday and when i plug my ipod shuffle into it, it automatically changes the tracks on the device. Therefore there is no point in big memory. The battery life isn't a problem either as you can get enough life out of it to listen to the majority of your tracks without running out of juice.
Overall, this MP3 player takes the user back to the basics. As always with apple products, it does exactly what it says on the box and i can't really argue with that. If you having doubt with buying this basic MP3 player, don't because all you have to do is think what benefit all the novelties on most other MP3 will have on your life.
Summary: Brilliant device, a good buy
