Advantages: small and light / good sound quality / easy to use
Disadvantages: no screen
The drawbacks of this iPod are clear, however at only around £32 for the 1GB and £45 for the 2GB models, it is great as a second iPod which is how I use mine.
Weighing at only 15.5 grams, it is almost weightless and easily clips onto your collar or bottom of your tshirt. It's also pretty tiny at 41.2 by 27.3mm. This makes it a perfect ipod for sporting activity such as at the gym or running. When I am legging it around my local park, you don't need to see a screen, or really specify which track comes next. I just load my ipod with songs (the 1GB can hold around 240, and the 2GB around 500 tracks depending on format) which suit my running mood which is usually pumping dance music and get running.
The price is also quite low, so I don't feel worried about loosing it should I trip over in some mud (it has happened) which I would worry about if I was using my phone or a more expensive model.
It also is very simple to use. There are five buttons on the front. Volume - & +, << & >> and play / pause - and that's all you need. It also has a nify docking base which connects via the headphone jack. The battery life is also pretty good, and the level is indicated by a small light which changes from green (fully charged) to amber (some charge) and when it is red, you're running on empty.
You can also listen to tracks in the order you put them on itunes, or can be shuffled.
Summary: Great for sports, and for those who are only looking for a basic music player
