Advantages: Excellent capacity, build & function

Disadvantages: No screen or visual navigation (but you didn't buy it for that did you?)

Why bother with the 1Gb unit when you get so much more with the 2Gb unit for only approx a third more in cost. The iPod shuffle is so good in situations where you just want music without the fuss. Remarkably easy to use, upload to and setup.

I was up and running in about 20 minutes (including loading iTunes onto the computer and uploading some MP3's). It does help if you have used an iPod product before but even if you haven't, there is loads of online help and support if you need it.

Sound quality is very good as is the build quality. Supplied with a docking unit and earphones. Personally I don't like the earphones but that is a personal choice - there isn't actually anything wrong with them.

The only downsides to the shuffle is that you can't easily select a track (buy a classic or nano if you need the navigation function) and that I found that I couldn't tell when it was charged when plugged into the computer (as the iPod thought it was operating as a flash device even though this function was disabled) Needed to stop the flash capability manually to see the charge status.

Overall an excellent product and better than most MP3's that I have used.
