Advantages: Tiny and doesn't get in your way at the gym

Disadvantages: Can't select specific songs

The ipod shuffle isn't the best of the apple range of ipods for listening to music on a day to day basis, it holds 250 - 500 songs and will play them in order or randomly, you can't choose what you want to listen to.

However, for the gym this is an indespensible piece of kit. Put a few songs on here that get you pumped up and ready to exercise (eye of the tiger anyone?) and pop your earphones in. The ipod shuffle is now not much bigger than your big thumb, and it has a handy clip on the back so you can clip it onto your shorts, t-shirt, etc.

Granted, this isn't the best mp3 player around, but if you are just after something to be able to listen to a bit of music whilst running or going for a workout down the gym, it is perfect. It's nice and light weight and doesn't have a screen, so you don't have to worry about getting it scratched or all sweaty.

Summary: Great for a workout.
