Advantages: Easy To Use, Small, Light, Cheap

Disadvantages: No Screen, Lacks Features

This is the second newest iPod Shuffle and I have owned one of these until selling it to buy a newer variety. It's an excellent iPod as it's small, cheap and very easy to use. It's an ideal gift for younger people or even older people who want an MP3 player to listen to their music on the go. This thing is miniature and weighs nothing, so is barely noticeable when you're carrying it around. It's so small; you have to be careful you don't lose it!

It is available in a small range of colours such as green, blue, silver and pink. I personally bought the silver one. The iPod has an aluminium finish and is very compact and well built. It is unlikely to break due to this. On the front face is a circular wheel with a central button in the middle like other iPods. However, the wheel is not sensitive to touch and is instead composed of buttons to control your music. To the left and right on the wheel are buttons to skip songs and fast forward or rewind music. On the top and bottom are '+' and '-' signs for volume control. In the centre is the play/pause button. The buttons click in when you press them and work well in controlling your music.

On the side of the iPod is a switch that can be slid from side to side in order to lock and unlock your iPod. Once it's locked, you can put it in your pocket and even if buttons are pressed accidentally as you walk for example, this will have no effect on your music - rather like when you lock a mobile phone. The lock button is clearly indicated as it shows a bright orange/red colour when it's locked. On the back of the iPod is a clip, so you can clip the iPod to your shirt, your pocket inside your jacket or your waist. It's a great feature and enables you to carry it around at ease. The iPod comes with the official white Apple earphones. These are average quality earphones but look great and are very modern. They fit in your ear quite comfortably as they have a smooth shape for the earpiece.

You can buy this iPod used and new for around £40.00 on amazon.co.uk. It can hold 500 songs (the 2GB version), which is plenty if you delete old ones you don't listen to. It depends on the person, but on my current iPod, I have under 500 songs and its plenty so a 2GB capacity is more than adequate for me. I would highly recommend this one for a first MP3 player as it's cheap, easy to use and does the job.
