Advantages: Easy to use, small, looks good and has a clip

Disadvantages: Not very durable and will scratch and scuff easily

I have an iPod Touch, but wanted to buy a smaller player for when I'm out and about at places such as the gym or park. I naturally looked to the iPod Shuffle as I knew my friends who owned them liked them alot.

The first thing I liked was the clip with which you can attach the iPod to your clothes. The clip is really subtle aswell, and doesn't look like an out of place addon - it's really useful to be able to just clip it to your pocket or shirt to switch songs instead of always having to take it out of your pocket. The control system is very nice and simple using Apple's iconic "click wheel". It also comes with a nice little charging dock which charges through the headphone jack.

The player is light enough (about the weight of a £2 coin) so that if you drop it, it won't smash or cause too much considerable damage. However, this is not the most durable of players. Just from having it in a bag with keys, the edges made from metal and become a little dented and scuffed - though I have never had it fall of when clipped on properly. Consider getting a case if this is a problem to you, but be warned. Dirt, grit and sand can also get stuck underneath the clip which makes an unpleasant sound when opening the clip - this can be cleaned with a thin sheet of paper in the gap, however.

I was not concerned about the lack of a screen. A screen is not the point of this player - its just for loading all your favourite music on and either skipping through alphabetically or putting it in shuffle mode (this mode is nice for when you want a variation of your favourite tracks without having to skip though) - It works really well without a screen.

The battery life is also very nice. You can probably get about 8 - 10 hours out of it - just remember to switch it off as it is very easy to forget it is on!

Overall, if you want a small player that is light, serves it's purpose brilliantly and looks good then go for the shuffle.

Summary: Small, easy to use, looks good, has a clip to attach to clothes
